Canadian University Transfer Agreements
Graduate Transfer Agreement Between Canadian Universities
This agreement is to provide students in good standing enrolled in a graduate degree or diploma program at a CAGS (Canadian Association of Graduate Studies) member university the opportunity to avail themselves of courses offered at another member institution (host) for transfer credit to the program at their institution (home).
The Western Dean's Agreement was established in 1974 as an expression of cooperation and mutual support among universities offering Graduate programs in western Canada. Its primary purpose is the reciprocal enrichment of graduate programs throughout western Canada. This agreement is not intended to preclude other agreements between participating institutions.
The Western Deans' Agreement provides an automatic tuition fee waiver for visiting students. Graduate students paying
Fully completed WDA authorization forms must be received by the Faculty of Graduate Studies a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the start of the term of enrollment at another WDA participating university.
Depending on the term, the UW Graduate Studies Office would need to receive the completed WDA form by these dates:
- Fall 2021 and Fall 2021/Winter 2022 terms by July 2021
- Winter 2021 Term by November 19, 2021
- Spring/Summer 2022 term by March 16, 2022
Please note that some courses at host universities may require instructor approval prior to applying for the course via the WDA form. In this case, it is the responsibility for the student to check this information at host university and a proof of the instructor approval should be attached with the WDA form.
