Research Data Management for Graduate Students

Mon. Dec. 8 12:00 PM - Mon. Dec. 8 01:00 PM
Location: Virtual

This workshop, led by Jaime Orr, UWinnipeg's Research Data Management Librarian, introduces Research Data Management (RDM), a set of practices that support the management of data throughout the research process. Increasingly, funders and publishers are requiring data management planning, data publication and preservation. This workshop explores best practices for managing your data, from planning, through collection, to storage and sharing. It will focus primarily on how to begin writing a data management plan (DMP), a living document that details the strategies and tools you will implement to effectively manage your data both during your research project and after its completion. This workshop will also highlight current and forthcoming funder requirements, and other important legal and ethical considerations.

Session Outcomes

  • Explore the concept, relevance, and benefits of research data management
  • Examine principles and policies underpinning research data management
  • Explore strategies for planning and managing research data from inception to completion
