Awards Based on Academic Excellence and Leadership

The following awards recognize academic excellence and leadership. You can apply for these awards by completing our General Application and searching the “Recommended Opportunities” available to you through our online portal.

Dick La Page Scholarship
To support the academic studies of a student who demonstrates leadership, commitment and promise to the teaching of physical education in the school system. Recipients must have completed Third Year of the Integrated BA/BEd degree with a declared major in Kinesiology, or have completed a three or four year BA/BSc degree with a declared major in Kinesiology and have been accepted to the Faculty of Education After Degree Program. The award will be made directly to The University of Winnipeg to help offset tuition costs.
Comments: Awarded to a student in Years 4 and 5 of the Integrated Program or Years 1 and 2 of the After-Degree Program with a Kinesiology major and demonstrated leadership and academic excellence (minimum GPA of 3.0).

Allan J. Ryckman Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by family, colleagues and friends in memory of Allan J. Ryckman, educator. It will be awarded, on the recommendation of the Dean of Education to a BEd student entering second, third or fourth year, who is deemed to best combine qualities of leadership and excellence.
Comments: Awarded to a student in Years 2 - 4 (Integrated Program) with demonstrated leadership and academic excellence (minimum GPA of 3.0).

Mary Talbot Memorial Scholarship in Education
This scholarship, provided by the University Women’s Club of Winnipeg, will be awarded on the recommendation of the Dean of Education to a BEd student who is entering the certification portion of the degree, and who is deemed to best combine qualities of leadership and academic excellence.
Comments: Awarded to a student entering Year 4 of the Integrated Program or Year 1 of the After-Degree Program with demonstrated leadership and academic excellence (minimum GPA of 3.0).
