The Conversation Canada — Science Communication

Mon. Feb. 7 12:30 PM - Tue. Feb. 8 03:00 PM
Contact: d.jones@uwinnipeg.ca
Location: Zoom

Have you ever wanted to share your science-based research with a wider audience? If so, please join us for two half-day workshops with Hannah Hoag, the Deputy Editor and Energy and Environment Editor of The Conversation Canada. This unique online publication combines academic and journalism expertise and is read by millions of people each month. Articles written by UW faculty and students have accumulated a combined total of more than 1M reads so far!

When: Monday, February 7 and Tuesday, February 8; 12:30 - 3:00 pm each day
Where: Zoom | Register here in advance of this workshop.

The workshop is tailored specifically for researchers doing research in the sciences, including health/medicine. Professors, postdoctoral fellows, PhD candidates and masters students, are eligible to write for The Conversation. Participants should come ready to work on an idea (or two) related to their research or field, which they’ll work on during the sessions. On the final day there will be a “pitch slam” where each participant will present their final idea and get additional feedback.

This workshop is supported by a science communications grant from NSERC.

Contact Dylan Jones in the Research Office (d.jones@uwinnipeg.ca) with any questions.
