UWinnipeg Science Adventure Camp
Spark curiosity at the Science Adventure Camp. Don't miss out on this thrilling summer adventure!
July 28–August 1 and August 5–8
At UWinnipeg Science Adventure camp, kids ages 7-11 will explore the world of science through hands-on experiments, creative crafts, and engaging lessons. Plus, they'll have a blast with sports and games!

Hosted by the Department of Recreation Services, this weeklong camp gives students the opportunity to learn in a fun and engaging environment alongside other young learners. Located at UWinnipeg's Richardson College for the Environment and Science, RecPlex, and Duckworth Centre, activities take place daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a one-to-six staff-to-camper ratio that ensures children are given guidance, support, and the chance to learn from our friendly staff!
This summer, there will be five-day and four-day camps, running July 28–August 1 and August 5–8 (closed August 4 for Terry Fox Day). The drop-off and pick-up location for both camps is the Duckworth Centre Entrance (400 Spence St.).

The Science Adventure Camp Registration PDF shows these instructions in a step-by-step guide.
What does a day at camp look like?
Campers will enjoy a balanced schedule of science and physical activities throughout the day, complemented by special events designed to keep children engaged. Activities are planned in one-hour blocks throughout the day to provide breaks and keep engagement high.
What science-related activities will be planned for campers?
The science activities are grouped into different STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subject areas and are delivered under the advisory of Dr. Tabitha Wood, Associate Dean of Science and Associate Professor. Science blocks will contain interactive demonstrations and experiments each day with a targeted subject area theme. Themes include chemistry, coding, plant life, astronomy, and many others.
What types of physical activity are included?
Physical activities will range from general physical literacy games to introductory lessons for different sports. Lessons and games will be delivered by our coordinator with assistance from camp counselors. The activities will teach children locomotor skills, object manipulation, and cooperation, along with other necessary skills to be confident in play.
Where will the camp take place on campus?
The Science Adventure Camp has full access to the Axworthy Health & RecPlex, with our home base located in the multi-purpose room on the second floor. The camp will also have access to the Richardson College for the Environment and Science complex, which will elevate and improve our science activities.
Are lunch and/or snacks provided?
We ask campers to bring their own lunch and snacks each day. Water refill stations are available on site, and campers are encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottles.
