The University of Winnipeg is dedicated to ensuring that all students have equal access to higher learning. As a result of this mandate there are support services and programs in place like financial assistance to make that happen.

How to Apply for Awards at The University of Winnipeg

Applying for awards at The University of Winnipeg is easy! Our applications will ask if you wish to self-declare as a student with a disability. Self-declaring on the application will ensure you are considered for all awards that include these criteria as well as all consider you for all other eligible award opportunities.

Government Student Aid

In addition to the financial assistance offered at the University, please review our Government Student Aid page for information on government student loans, grants and bursaries.

There are grants available from Canada Student Loans for persons which disabilities. Two non-repayable funding programs are currently available for student aid applicants with a verified disability through their provincial student aid branch:

  • Canada Student Grant for Students with Permanent Disabilities
  • Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment for Students with Permanent Disabilities

Other Services and Support Programs

Accessibility Services (AS) and Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services (DHoHS) facilitate and promote the ongoing development of an accessible learning environment which provides students with disabilities or medical conditions the opportunity to participate fully in all aspects of campus life.
