Faculty of Kinesiology
Where Students Matter
Two Active Student Groups
The Department of Kinesiology & Applied Health in our faculty has two vibrant student associations: the UWinnipeg Athletic Therapy Students Association (WATSA) and the Kinesiology Students Association (KSA).
Enhanced Student Experience
The prime goal of the two student associations is to enhance the student experience both inside & outside the classroom. Members of the students’ associations are actively involved in supporting each other academically through study groups, tutoring and mentorship. The groups organize fundraising initiatives to support their programs and contribute to the scholarship program. Fundraising events include: the pedometer challenge (for United Way), the annual massag-o-than, and bake sales. Along with regular meetings and educational events like lectures and seminars, the groups actively arrange social outings throughout the year.
National KIN Games
The annual “KIN Games” is a highlight for students in the Department of Kinesiology & Applied Health. In this national event, teams of kinesiology students compete throughout the weekend in fun physical activity challenges, and academic challenges, too. Held in a different Canadian city each year, it’s a great networking opportunity with Kin students – and future colleagues - from across the country.
AT Games in the AT Lab
The AT Games is an annual get together of Athletic Therapy students to participate in a variety of fun challenges like Athletic Therapy ‘Jeopardy,’ and taping and first aid competitions. Competition gives way to camaraderie afterwards at a favourite local establishment.
