Employee Benefits

The University of Winnipeg employee benefits and pension are designed to provide you with security and contribute to your and your family's health and well-being. 

The information is intended as a summary of the main provisions of the various benefits, presented in non-technical language. The terms and conditions under which the benefits are provided, are governed by the appropriate group policy, contract, or plan text and any relevant Collective Agreement and in any dispute the legal document will take precedence over the information provided here.

University of Winnipeg Flexible Benefits Plans

The University of Winnipeg is committed to providing a comprehensive benefits program to our eligible employees and their dependents.  The Flex Plan includes 3 Basic Life Options, 2 Dependent Life Options and 4 Health and Dental Options providing varied degrees of coverage.

In addition, there is coverage provided for Basic Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), Business Travel AD&D, Long Term Disability (LTD), Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) and, if applicable, Short Term Disability.

Coverage may be continued during a Leave of Absence Without Pay for up to a maximum period of 12 months provided you take the necessary action to continue coverage and pay the required employee and University costs. Details can be obtained from Pay & Benefits payroll@uwinnipeg.ca.
