Message from the Dean
A Word from the Dean, David Fitzpatrick
The Faculty of Kinesiology is the newest Faculty on The University of Winnipeg campus. It is comprised of the academic Department of Kinesiology and Applied Health, and the Department of Athletics, combining and integrating the research, knowledge and organizational strengths of both departments.
A New Faculty, A New Facility
It’s an exciting time at The University of Winnipeg. The campus continues a rapid and positive period of growth and transition. In September 2012, we celebrated the sod turning for the new UNITED Health and RecPlex. This downtown multi-sport complex and health centre will provide indoor field space for sports like soccer, team handball, ultimate, and track and field. As a result of the enhanced programs and facilities, there will be increased research, teaching, and student employment opportunities, creating a robust student experience in the classroom, lab, sport facilities, and in the community.
An Enhanced Student Experience
The academic and research interests of our students and faculty will be further stimulated through a Lifespan Physical Activity Research Institute, which will reflect the diverse research interests of our faculty; the research will focus on matters of relevance to the inner city. The Institute will put our students at the forefront of research, and further enhance their practical hands-on experience in the classroom, labs, and in the community.
My Door is Open
Our primary goal is to make your experience at our campus a positive one. I encourage you to ask questions of your professors and student advisors. My door is also open. In fact, I've set aside some time each month for both students and faculty to "Drop-in" and informally chat with me in my office, 3D06. We can discuss your study at the Faculty of Kinesiology and what this will mean for your education, your outlook, your health, and your future.

This semester, the "Drop-in on the Dean" Sessions in Dave's office for STUDENTS or FACULTY will be Thursday afternoons, between 2:30-4:00pm:
