The University of Winnipeg Foundation Introduces New Green Giving Option

The University of Winnipeg Foundation is pleased to introduce its partnership with Jarislowski Fraser Limited for the Jarislowsky Fraser Fossil Fuel Free Fund, an environmentally friendly fund option for donors to invest.

The JF Fossil Fuel Free Funds further respond to the needs of both institutional and individual investors and the The University of Winnipeg Foundation believes this new initiative offers a differentiated solution to its donors such as additional non-financial investment criteria that specifically target lower carbon emissions. The University of Winnipeg and Foundation are pleased to collaborate with Jarislowsky Fraser and leverage its expertise and capabilities with regards to sustainable investing.

Building on Jarislowsky Fraser’s broad range of sustainable investment strategies, JF Fossil Fuel Free Funds are a family of private pooled funds which include JF Fossil Fuel Free Canadian Equity Fund, JF Fossil Fuel Free Global Equity Fund and JF Fossil Fuel Free Bond Fund.

The JF Fossil Fuel Free Funds feature these additional parameters:

  • Exclusion of the GICS® Energy sector and FTSE TMX Energy corporate group
  • Removal of non-energy sector companies that have material proven coal, oil, or gas reserves used for energy purposes
  • Active management of the portfolio carbon footprint using proprietary analysis, based on CDP and Bloomberg data. This includes fundamental analysis and assessment of overall emissions-management strategies and expected direction.
  • Green bonds with attractive risk/return profile
