THE UNIVERSITY OF WINNIPEG

THE ROLE: Donor Engagement and Giving Officer

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the UWF, the Donor Engagement and Giving Officer will support activities related to alumni and donor engagement and advancement leading special projects and providing support to alumni affairs, individual giving and major gifts/capital campaign.

Responsibilities fall under two areas, stakeholder engagement and donor development.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and execute strategic donor outreach plans ensuring objectives and target demographics are clearly defined,
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships; ensure meaningful, relevant touchpoints to retain and grow affinity.
  • Analyze stakeholder engagement metrics, and propose plans and actions to improve the effectiveness of communication, industry engagement, and alumni
  • Coordinate and manage the collection, delivery, entry, verification, management, analysis and reporting of quantitative and qualitative survey
  • Improve the quality and expand the Foundation’s donors and alumni database,
  • Support alumni events,
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external

 Donor Development

  • Fundraise on behalf of the University’s priorities through strategic identification, cultivation, and solicitation,
  • Write a variety of documents such as correspondence, reports, and
  • Execute email communications and e-solicitation strategies,

  • Assist in the development and execute direct mail and general fundraising plans and materials,
  • Provide support and aid in the implementation of UW’s annual campus campaign,
  • Provide support and aid in the implementation of capital campaign initiatives,
  • Steward existing and new

 Key Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in fundraising and/or stakeholder communications,
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, inclusive of developing presentations and multi-media materials,
  • Demonstrated experience working on a variety of fund development categories (individual giving, corporate partnerships, major gifts, capital campaign, affinity-based campaigns),
  • Strong problem-solving and prioritizing skills in a multitasking environment,
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders (University administration, faculty, staff, students, donors, alumni, corporate sponsors and community leaders),
  • Proven data-mining and data segmentation skills
  • Proven experience using social media tools to research and engage with stakeholders,
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team,
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to take

 Important assets:

  • Degree in communications/social sciences, business administration or an equivalent combination of education and work experience,
  • Ability to support and lead a variety of fundraising programs (direct mail, campus campaign, individual giving, leadership giving),
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge donor relations software,
  • Experience working in the charitable sector or equivalent,
  • University of Winnipeg Collegiate graduate and/or University of Winnipeg

Please note: The incumbent will be initially assigned to support the work of the individual giving team / campus campaign due to a parental leave. After the initial assignment is completed, other areas/assignments will become more prevalent.
