How to Talk the Talk: Speaking as Experts to the Popular Media (Skills Share)

Fri. Feb. 14 12:30 PM - Fri. Feb. 14 01:20 PM
Location: 3C25

As researchers and experts on different topics, we are often sought out by members of the media to speak on a variety of current issues. But what do you do when you’re contacted? This session, facilitated by Dr. Bronwyn Dobchuk-Land (Criminal Justice), will function as an opportunity for Cultural Studies researchers to share skills and experiences they’ve gained from their interactions with members of the media. Whether it’s for print, radio, or television, this session will cover topics such as how to prepare before doing interviews and what questions to ask before, during, and after interviews. There will also be a “mock interview” for researchers to practice their skills.

** This is a skills-share session, so please bring your own anecdotes and or questions to discuss with other participants. **

The CRiCS Professional Development Series is a series of workshops intended for members of the centre (researchers, students in the Cultural Studies MA program, research assistants) to gain new skills in a variety of different professional areas related to Cultural Studies and Cultural Studies research.
