Career Advising

Career Planning: Undecided about your major? Not sure where your degree will take you? Connect with a Career Advisor to explore career pathways, learn about yourself, and discover new opportunities. We have various resources on occupation options, graduate schools and pre-professional admission testing. We can help you clarify your interests and evaluate your options.

Job Search Support: We can help you find ways to gain the experience you need to succeed after graduation. Connect with volunteering, part-time or summer employment. We can help you prepare your resume or cover letter, practice for interviews, and master the skills related to your job search.

Academic and Career Services staff are happy to assist you in-person, or via Zoom, email, or phone.  Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm. Please email us at: careers@uwinnipeg.ca

Booking an Appointment

One-on-one appointments are a great place to start for all your career and employment questions.  Career Advisors are here to help whether you are a current UWinnipeg student or recent alumni.

Appointments with a Career Advisor can be booked in the following ways:

  • By going to myvisit.com or using the MyVisit app (available for free through Google Play or the App Store).  Please be sure to check availability with multiple Advisors to find the best time.
  • By calling (204) 786-9257.
  • By visiting our reception desk in the lobby on the 1st Floor of the Rice Centre (489 Portage Avenue).

Please always specify the type of appointment you are requesting in your booking (in-person, Zoom or phone).

  • For Zoom appointments: Your Advisor will send out the meeting link in the morning the day of your appointment.  To attend your meeting, click on the link and enter the provided password. Please have your Student ID ready to present to your Advisor.
  • For in-person appointments: We look forward to seeing you on the 1st Floor of the Rice Centre (489 Portage Avenue).  When you arrive, please check-in using the ticketing machine in the lobby.  Your ticket number will be called on the TV monitor when your Advisor is ready to see you.  Please have your student ID ready to present to your Advisor.
  • For phone appointments: Please provide the phone number you can be reached at as part of your appointment booking.  Your Advisor will call you at your scheduled appointment time.  Please be prepared to answer questions that will help your Advisor to identify you in lieu of being able to show your student ID.

Note: Please always email us from your webmail account and provide your student number as part of your message.
