Biography:

Dr. Angela Failler is Professor of Women’s & Gender Studies and Tier II Canada Research Chair in Culture and Public Memory at the University of Winnipeg. She directs the Centre for Research in Cultural Studies, is a Research Affiliate with the Institute for Women's and Gender Studiesand teaches and supervises for the MA Program in Cultural Studies. Her research is focused on culture and public memory, including an in-depth study of how the 1985 Air India bombings figure in Canadian and transnational public memory. She is also interested in phenomena at the intersection of culture, embodiment and psychical life and has published writings on anorexia and self-harm in this vein. Most recently, she has turned her attention to matters of representation and witnessing in museums and curatorial practices. She co-leads Museum Queeries for the Thinking Through the Museum research network. In 2012 Dr. Failler won the Clifford J. Robson Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence.
