NOVEMBER IS FILM TRAINING MANITOBA’s EXPO MONTH

FTM is a provincially-funded not-for-profit training organization that provides training for crew members in Manitoba’s growing film industry.  Every year they have a training Expo in late fall. This year, courses will be held virtually via ZOOM.

General information can be found at https://www.filmtraining.mb.ca/2020/11/november-is-ftm-film-expo-month/. FTM invites any of faculty, students, and alumni register and attend these reasonably-priced workshops.  As a not-for-profit sector training council, they are able to offer workshops at a subsidized rate.

This year, FTM is pleased to have local Costume Designer Heather Neale and Make-Up Artist Alisha Talbot instruct introductory workshops and Production Manager Aaron Graham lead a workshop on Final Draft and Movie Magic software.  They are also pleased to have Cinematographer Benjamin Loeb take part in a two-hour moderated conversation on his career.

Information on the individual workshops can be found at:

LOCATION SHOOTS

Film students will NOT be allowed to use main campus buildings for film shoots this Fall term.  Only spaces within the ACTF or outdoors will be allowed.  Even so, when you are ready to shoot your film and are looking at locations around the building or outdoors on campus, please familiarize yourself with the Location Shoot Procedures, and complete the Location Shoot Permission form.  Keep in mind that the process may take up to two weeks, so please plan accordingly so you aren't disappointed!

If you are considering locations off-campus, please make sure you speak to your Instructor about the appropriate authorizations and paperwork.  Third-party insurance may be available for you through the University; please see the department office at 3T03 for information.
