Theatre and Film

Our students often receive great deals and bargains at cultural institutions around town!

Students pay just $10 to see VR performance art piece at PTE!

PTE is pleased to offer students a $10 ticket at the door for all PTE performances, including the premiere of an internationally-renowned local performance artist, which gives the audience the experience of virtual reality without putting on a headset.

In the upcoming Leap Series production at Prairie Theatre Exchange, MÆ Motion Aftereffect, intermedia artist Freya Björg Olafson creates a theatrical experience just as surreal as Virtual Reality (VR), but you won’t need an avatar to attend.

Running October 30th to November 3rd, MÆ Motion Aftereffect uses green-screen technology, movement, sound and video projection to invite us into a world Olafson calls ‘deceptively manipulative’.

The MÆ Motion Aftereffect set is made up of a green-screen floor and a large, 20 foot wide screen. Olafson will be wearing a wireless microphone and the text she speaks is modified from various vlogs and YouTube videos of people describing their first experiences with VR and Augmented Reality.

Students can see this amazing show for just $10 at the door, with their student ID – or you can even book tickets up to 24 hours in advance by phone at (204) 942-5483 (Monday to Saturday, 10-6, plus an hour before showtimes). Regular tickets are only $25, available at the PTE Website.
