What is the difference between a BBA (Bachleor of Business Administration) and a B.Comm (Bachelor of Commerce)?

A BBA at The University of Winnipeg is a multi-displinary Degree, in which you will learn from Departments outside of Business and Economics, such as, Political Science, Geography, History, and Rhetoric & Communications, to name a few. The University of Winnipeg and The Faculty of Business and Economics aims to educate well rounded individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit, a desire to face challenges and a flexbile skill set so that students can continually grow. Whereas, a B.Comm is more focused on Business learning and does not have a multi-displinary approach.

When does term start?

The University of Winnipeg has three different terms, Fall (which starts in September), Winter (which starts in January) and Spring (which starts in May).

How do I figure out my schedule for classes?

Once you are accepted to The University of Winnipeg, you will receive a step by step guide on how to register for your classes and where to fo to see what time classes are being offered. To prepare in advance, you can view the Timetable and use a Timetable Worksheet.

How much does it cost to study at The University of Winnipeg?

The total cost of your degree depends on which courses you will be taking. A degree from The University of Winnipeg allows students to have flexibility in the coruses that they take. Science courses (Biology, Chemistry, etc) cost more than other courses.

However, you can estimate that a 4 year degree will cost between $14,000-$17,000 for Domestic students and $55,000-$65,000 for International students.

What scholarships or awards can I apply for?

There are many scholarships and awards that students can apply for. Some are open to all Unviersity of Winnipeg students and others are specifically for Business or Economics Students.

Domestic Students - If you apply to The University of Winnipeg using the Advanced Early Application (usually in November of your Grade 12 year), you will be automatically entered in the Advanced Early Entrance Awards. These awards are awarded based on your average grade in Grade 12.

The deadline to apply for Scholarships is usually the second week of September

The deadline to apply for Awards & Bursaries is usually the second week of October.

Yes. Applicants must be in good academic standing at their former instituion.

How many students are in a class?

First year classes for Business or Economics courses can be between 60 - 80 students, depending on the format (in-class, Video on Demand or Online). In your second, third and fourth years, class size decreases as students chose specialized courses.

As of April 2016, there are 1276 declared majors in The Faculty of Business and Economics at the undergraduate level.
