This page outlines the application process for Campus Living in detail. Please make sure to read each section before registering and submitting your application!

Application Process

Eligibility

Before applying, all applicants must have applied to UWinnipeg or another Winnipeg post-secondary institution and have an active student number. Residents must be registered in academic classes during residence occupancy. Registration for UWinnipeg students is checked periodically in the student database and residents who are not registered in classes may not continue living in residence. Students of schools other than UWinnipeg will not be admitted into residence without proof of enrollment at their academic institution. Campus Living may request and keep a copy of the student’s identification card and/or course registration.

Minors

Minors (students who will be under age 18 when starting their occupancy) must have a Manitoba resident act as their custodian. The custodian must submit a Custodianship form on the student's application after the student receives a room offer.

Fall-Only Visiting Students

Visiting students who are accepted on a Letter of Permission to UWinnipeg for Fall academic term only should apply for the "Academic Year” term and select the “Visiting Student” option on the application. 

Fall-only visiting students are not eligible to stay in residence over Winter Break or to select the Priority room offer option. Visiting students' occupancy ends by the last day of Fall term at noon.

Application Types and Dates

Academic Year 2023-2024

For individual students arriving in Fall and staying for both Fall & Winter terms. (Winter Break is the optional period between Fall and & Winter terms.) Fall-only visiting students should read below before applying.

First-time residents applying for Academic Year before the May 1 deadline may be eligible to request a priority room offer, which is sent earlier than the standard room offer period. Read this link for more information about first-time resident priority ».

Occupancy Dates (tentative): Sept 1, 2023 to Apr 25, 2024 (excluding Winter Break by default)

Application Availability: February 15, 2023 to December 2023

Family Housing 2023-24

For families of 2-5 persons applying to live in one of our McFeetors Hall 1-, 2-, or 3- bedroom apartments. Applicants must read through our Family Housing page before applying ».

NOTE: There is no separate family housing application for Winter or Spring intake. If you plan to arrive in January or May, apply for the Family Housing term and email us your expected arrival date. Room offers will be sent based on availability. 

Occupancy Dates: Sep 1, 2023 to Aug 22, 2024

Application Availability: February 15, 2023 to July 2024

Winter 2024

For individual students staying for Winter term (January intake).

Winter residents are not eligible for early move in during Winter Break.

Occupancy Dates (tentative): Jan 5, 2024 to Apr 25, 2024

Application Availability: Sept 14, 2023 to March 2024

Register and Submit an Application

First time applicants should register on our StarRez Portal here ». Anyone who has ever applied to Campus Living before should use their existing account to log in.

Once you have registered, selected your preferred room types and identified which application type to select, you can submit an application on the StarRez Portal.

Application Fees & Deposits

New applicants, and continuing applicants applying for the next Academic Year, pay a non-refundable $50 application fee to start each application. 

Students must select their application term carefully, as application fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

NOTE: Flywire and online banking are not accepted for application fees and deposits.

Receive and Accept a Room Offer (Timelines)

What is a Room Offer?

A room offer email is sent after your application is processed by Campus Living. This email contains information about your occupancy dates and your residence room type, along with a deadline to complete the application. If the application is not completed by the deadline, the room offer is cancelled and the application is temporarily deactivated until you contact Campus Living. Room Offer Timelines

Campus Living processes applications and sends room offers for Academic Year and Family Housing typically starting at the end of May. Room offers continue to be sent on an ongoing basis based on availability.

Winter term room offers typically start being sent in November.

Spring term room offers typically start being sent out in March.

Accepting a room offer

After receiving a room offer email, applicants accept a room offer by logging into the Portal and completing additional application pages (such as meal plan selection, payment type selection, and other term-specific options). 

New and returning applicants pay a deposit when completing an application. The deposit is $650 for Family Housing applicants, and $450 for all other applicants. The deposit is paid on the application with Visa or MasterCard, or at the Campus Living office by cash or debit. It is not payable by Flywire or online banking.

Continuing residents (who will continue to the upcoming term without moving out) do not need to pay the deposit, but must sign their residence agreement at the Campus Living before completing the application. Current residents should read this page before applying ».

Minors (applicants under age 18) must submit a Custodianship Form along with their application before paying the deposit. You can download and read the Custodianship Form here »

Before Paying Your Deposit: Be sure that you will move into the room before paying the deposit! Once the deposit is paid, it is not refundable if you cancel or terminate your application. Read Section 1 of the Contract for more details »

Once all application pages are completed and deposit is paid, the application will be marked as "complete" and your room will be reserved in accordance with the Campus Living Contract
