The Facilities Planning Office is responsible for overseeing capital projects and renovations at the University of Winnipeg. From departmental requests to large-scale campus developments, we ensure that all projects are executed efficiently, sustainable, and in alignment with the university’s goals.
Our expertise includes managing building renovations, space planning, and sustainability initiatives, while maintaining compliance with provincial codes and University policies.

1. Project Management
Our Project Managers are committed to delivering successful projects through:
- Developing and maintaining detailed project plans and schedules.
- Applying PMI standards for project management best practices.
- Ensuring compliance with all provincial codes and regulations.
- Following the University's purchasing policies and standards.
- Managing stakeholder engagement and project communication.
- Mitigating risks and maintaining a safe environment for everyone.
2. Capital Projects & Renovations
We coordinate and manage:
• Departmental requests for building changes and special projects, including those related to research grants.
• Remodeling or renovating classrooms, labs, offices, and common spaces.
• Installation of specialized equipment.
• Building envelope changes (e.g., window or wall panel replacements).
3. Additional Services
- Mapping: Fire plans, directories, and campus key plans.
- Office & Furniture Layouts: Optimized for functionality and aesthetics.
- Space Information Requests: Providing detailed data about campus spaces.
- University Building Records: Administration of building drawings, records, and master specifications.
- Sustainability Data Management: Implementation of rating systems like LEED for green building initiatives.
Important Information
Pre-Approval for Campus Changes: All changes to campus spaces must be pre-approved and may require review by the Space Committee. Contact us for guidance.
