Internal Mail

Internal mail is delivered the next business day after pickup.

Urgent Mail: If the mail is urgent, please drop it off at Shipping and Receiving, Room 1C27, on the main floor of Centennial Hall.

Prevent Mishandling: To prevent mishandling, please ensure your mail is clearly labelled.

Inter-Department Mail: Use the interdepartmental manila envelopes to send mail between departments. To prepare the envelope for sending, please cross off the previous recipient and location on the internal envelope and write the new information clearly and legibly. Please note, damaged envelopes or those with no remaining space for entries should be discarded.

External Mail

Prevent Mishandling: To ensure proper delivery, addresses should be printed clearly and legibly, and a return address should be included in the top left corner of the envelope. The format for the return address is shown here.

Postage Costs: Mail Services is responsible only for applying the correct postage. To help with postage costs, please separate mail by destination: Canada, U.S.A., and International.

Bulk Mail: For bulk mailouts, contact facilities@uwinnipeg.ca with your request.

Department Charges: Unless otherwise advised, charges will be applied to department accounts by default.

Please note: External mail picked up will be stamped and sent to Canada Post on the same day. Delivery times can be checked on the Canada Post website.

Oversized Parcel Delivery

Any mail weighing more than 500 grams (0.5 kg) is considered an oversized parcel and requires a barcode shipping label, which Mail Services can provide. By default, the cheapest shipping option (expedited parcel) will be used, which may result in slower delivery. A tracking number is available upon request, and additional charges apply if a signature is required. If faster delivery is needed, please inform Mail Services so they can provide estimated delivery dates.

UPS Delivery

Departments are responsible for managing UPS waybills. Mail Services can assist with shipping any mail or parcels that require UPS packing slips.
