Timely co-edited book tackles parenting and technology

Dr. Fiona Joy Green (Department Women’s and Gender Studies) and Dr. Jaqueline McLeod Rogers (Department of Rhetoric, Writing and Communications), University of Winnipeg professors and mothers, have been working together exploring parenting and blog writing habits and topics for over a dozen years. Their co-edited collection, Parenting/Internet/Kids: Domesticating Technologies (Demeter Press, 2022) addresses the responsibilities of parents for raising their children in the current digital age and some of the issues and challenges associated with the technology of computers and on online accessibility rooted in many homes.

The book features international authors/parents located in Australia, Canada, India, Japan, the UK, and the USA, along with University of Winnipeg parents and Department of Rhetoric, Writing and Communications faculty members, Matthew Flisfeder, Robyn Flisfeder, and Andrew McGillivray, and Women’s and Gender Studies Administrative Coordinator, Angela McGillivray.

The collection is divided into four sections:

  1. Moms on Media: Stage and Screen
  2. Kids on Media: Windows and Doors
  3. Enabling: Digital/Physical Nexus
  4. Requesting Domestic Use and Surveillance: Who’s in Charge
