Workshop led by Sharlee Reimer, PhD

An EDI Statement is a comprehensive overview of your EDI values and actions. While there are many ways to write a strong EDI statement, this workshop will discuss the foundational components of an EDI statement as well as approaches to avoid or refine. The statement can then be adapted to different contexts, from public statements to grant applications. We will take up several questions:

  • What are the key parts of a strong EDI statement?
  • What doesn’t work?
  • Where does the relationship between EDI in research practice and research design fit in?

This interactive workshop will include space for writing, feedback, and collaboration.

After taking this module, you will be able to:

  1. Identify the key components to effective and authentic EDI statements.
  2. Identify and discuss the barriers equity specific to your field(s).
  3. Distinguish between EDI commitments and EDI actions.
  4. Think through the outcome you hope to achieve.
  5. Begin to reflect on potential course-correction as needed.
