Microsoft 365

Tech Sector

We are pleased to inform all Faculty and Staff members that Microsoft 365 (previously named O365) is now available for personal use. It is the same service that UWinnipeg students currently use and will provide the entire UWinnipeg community with one integrated service. For faculty, this will provide a valuable new tool to collaborate with students, fellow faculty members and colleagues worldwide.

WHAT IS MICROSOFT 365?

Microsoft 365 (M365) is the on-line version of Office applications that you are already familiar with. It enables you to connect with people, information, and content you need to do your best work, from any device.

  • The latest versions of Office applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Access to a multitude of productivity and collaboration applications
  • 1 TB of OneDrive storage

Please Note:

  • Microsoft 365 is not intended to replace Microsoft Office on your TSC deployed computer. It is for your personal computer or mobile device.
  • Microsoft 365 (M365) is provided and supported by Microsoft.
  • You cannot use M365 apps (Outlook Online or the Outlook mobile app) for your UWinnipeg email at this time. Please continue to use the Outlook software on your UWinnipeg computer or Outlook web access (https://email.uwinnipeg.ca/OWA/) for your UWinnipeg email
  • Please ensure that files stored in M365’s OneDrive are moved to your own storage before your tenure with the University ends. When your UWinnipeg accounts are terminated, you will be unable to access your files. Also, additional data retention standards may be implemented for data stored in M365. These standards will be communicated to all Faculty and Staff before being implemented.

How To Request Microsoft 365

If you require a M365 account, please submit a request using our on-line Hardware/Software Request form, by clicking here. You will receive an email with your ticket number from the Service Desk to confirm your request.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is one of the M365 suite of applications. MS Teams is incredibly powerful and provides chat, file sharing and video conferencing features. MS Teams will allow our entire campus community to collaborate like never before, with everyone at the University, as well as colleagues outside of our campus community.

To take advantage of all features MS Teams has to offer, we encourage you to install MS Teams on your computer or mobile device. To install MS Teams, please click here

Please Note: MS Teams will work through a web browser, but the only browser that provides all video and chat features is Google Chrome. Browsers such as Safari, Internet Explorer, Edge and Firefox can be used, but will have limitations, which are documented here.

GET STARTED

Once you have an account provided by TSC and your email password matches your campus network password, feel free to log in to your account at MS 365 Login.

SUPPORT

TSC will provide support for your M365 login account. Please contact the Service Desk at either servicedesk@uwinnipeg.ca or 204 786-9149 if you encounter any issues logging in.
