The Centre for Rupert's Land Studies
The Centre for Rupert's Land Studies at The University of Winnipeg facilitates scholarly research and publishing concerning the human history of the Hudson Bay watershed, known in the period from 1670 to 1870 as Rupert's Land.
CRLS supports research in the areas of Indigenous history and fur trade history, hosting biennial colloquiums, publishing The Rupert's Land Newsletter, promoting awareness of the Hudson's Bay Company Archives, offering an annual Harington Fellowship, and housing a non-lending library and reading room. We have also co-published, with McGill-Queen's University Press, a series of documentary volumes on aspects of the history of Rupert's Land
