Explore Your Options with Physics

taylor hansonAs a recent graduate from the University of Winnipeg’s Physics Department, I would like to share my experience with others who find themselves wondering what opportunities are available to them, both during and after obtaining their degree. As an undergraduate student, in hopes to find my passion, I took part in a number of different research projects and internships, many of which I did not realize were available to me until making meaningful connections within the department. My experiences at the University of Winnipeg inspired me to obtain a Master of Mathematics Degree at the University of Waterloo, which helped me land my current job as CFD Analyst at Price Industries. In recounting my previous academic and work experience, my hope is to inspire and educate current students of the various options they have to explore with the competencies acquired through studying physics. My plan is to focus on the highlights of my experience at the University of Winnipeg, and answer questions from the perspective of a previous student about “What should I do next?” The presentation itself will be relatively informal with plenty of opportunities for students to ask questions about applications, be it for scholarships, conferences, or their first full-time job.
