Dr. Candida Rifkind has co-authored a new scholarly book on comics by and about refugees published in June by Wilfrid Laurier University Press. Graphic Refuge: Visuality and Mobility in Refugee Comics, co-authored with Dr. Dominic Davies (UK), is the first full-length study of comics by and about refugees, migrants, asylum-seekers, and other forcibly displaced peoples. Read more about it at the publisher's website and listen to this four-part podcast hosted by The Authority File where the authors discuss such questions as: "What the Implied Reader of Refugee Comics Tells Us about the Genre and Citizenship"; "How Graphic Refuge Explores the Ethics of Artist-Refugee Relationships"; "Can Refugee Comics Effect Political Change? Discussing Comics Journalism and “Refugeeness”"; and "Expanding Refugee Comics through Interdisciplinarity, Documenting the War on Gaza, and Moving Beyond Trauma Studies."
