Acclaimed Playwright/Director/Administrator Yvette Nolan Gives First Real Thing Lecture of the 19/20 Season

The Theatre and Film department is delighted to announce Yvette Nolan (Algonquin), celebrated playwright, director, and dramaturg, will visit the University of Winnipeg Asper Centre of Theatre and Film Wednesday, September 18th to speak to students and the community, sharing her experiences as a Canadian theatre artist.  Originally from Saskatchewan, Nolan spent a good deal of her time in Winnipeg and is a graduate of UM.  Since then, she has worked across the country as a playwright, artistic director, administrator, dramaturg, director, and actor, and has won numerous awards for her impressive work.

The Real Thing Lectures series is a season of six events featuring speakers from a range of areas in the performing arts:  technical, performance, design, management, filmmaking, directing, playwriting, etc.  The selected speakers address issues related to “the business of the business”.    Lectures take place at 12:30 pm on select Wednesdays throughout the season in the Asper Centre for Theatre and Film, a fully accessible venue, and are free of charge and open to the public.
