Reliability of Service

A backup policy must exist for critical University IT Resources. This policy must include the following:

• When and how are backups made, where the media (if applicable) is stored and for how long.

• How often backups are made, who is responsible for checking their correct operation.

• A detailed description of what utilities are used to backup and restore data for all applications (O.S., Database, etc.) must exist.

• The expected restore time for various disaster scenarios should be documented.

The restore process should be tested at regular intervals to verify data integrity and proper restore procedures.
