Environmental sustainability

Smart, flexible, efficient

With lots of natural light, heating, cooling and electrical upgrades, the redesigned library is an energy-efficient, sustainable space; a central hub of knowledge for future generations.

A commitment to sustainability has been integral to this design, from the ground up. Beginning with a completely new exterior, renewal will maintain access to natural light while providing improved thermal retention. Major upgrades to the heating air systems will make it ready for future geothermal upgrades across campus, and the project includes a number of building code, fire safety, and mechanical improvements.

Keeping in mind that services, pedagogy, and technology will continue to evolve, the renewal process will create adaptable, reusable spaces and solutions that maximize flexibility and ensure the library is able to respond to institutional needs without future retrofitting.

YOUR LIBRARY EXPERIENCE WILL INCLUDE:
1.  New, insulated building exterior.
2.  Geothermal energy plan.
3.  Window replacement and increased access to natural light.
4.  Heating, cooling, and electrical upgrades.
5.  Adaptive, multi-functional and reusable design.
