Mail Services

The Mail Services team makes daily rounds on campus to distribute mail that was received the previous day and pick-up mail that is ready to be delivered or stamped. Time of arrival to individual departments is consistent on a day to day basis.

Mail Pickup Times

UPS: 1:30 pm
Canada Post Parcels: 2:00 pm
Canada Post Lettermail: 3:00 pm

Mail dropped off past these times will result in pickup the next business day.

Internal Mail

Any internal mail picked up will be delivered the next business day. If urgent we advise staff or faculty to drop off their mail on the main floor of Centennial Hall in 1C27.

To avoid possible mishandling of internal mail make sure to cross off the previous receiver/location on the internal envelope. Then make your entry below it or on the next column if applicable in clear and legible writing.

Please dispose of any empty internal envelopes that are badly damaged or have run out of writing room for entries.

External Mail

To ensure your mail gets to it's desired location please make sure printing is clear and legible. We also advise you add a return address on the top left corner of the envelope. This will help us with sorting your mail if returned to campus.

Example Return Address:
Department Name
515 Portage Avenue
Winnipeg, Manitoba
R3B 2E9

To avoid any errors with mailouts, the Mail Services team will only be responsible for placing the correct postage for external mail.

We request that you separate all Canada, U.S.A., and International mail to help the Mail Services team with postage costs as charges are different for each destination.

We are equipped to handle bulk mailouts. Please contact facilities@uwinnipeg.ca to arrange this.

Any external mail that is picked up will be stamped and received by Canada Post on the same day. Please visit the Canada Post website to view expected delivery times.

Department Charges

By default, we will charge based on department accounts unless advised otherwise.

Oversized Parcel Delivery

Any mailout weighing more than 500 grams (0.5 kg) will be classified as an oversized parcel and will require a barcode shipping label that our Mail Services team can provide.

By default, our staff will choose the cheapest option for shipping (expedited parcel). This will also be the slowest option of delivery due to cost. A tracking number is available upon request, with extra charges if the receiver is required to sign for the parcel.

If parcel delivery is time sensitive, please advise the Mail Services team. They can inform you of estimated delivery dates for faster delivery services.

UPS Deliveries

All UPS waybills will be the responsibility of the departments. Please check with your Department Assistant on this matter. The Mail Services team can ship out any mail/parcel requiring UPS packing slips.
