Collections

wood and gut snowshoes

Collections housed by the UW Anthropology Museum represent a vast diversity of human experience. They also show how, in many ways, people can be very much alike across space and time. Our collections tell a story of humanity that begins with our very first steps over a million years ago and emerges into the remarkable complexity of globally-linked societies.

We regularly exhibit our collections as thematic displays on the 4th floor of Centennial Hall. We also provide collections access to students, staff, faculty, and other researchers. Contact one of our staff to find out more.

Our collections generally fall into one of four broad categories. Click the photos below to learn more.
