Dev Kashyap

Dev is a first generation Canadian of East Indian descent with a passion for International Development but particular improving the conditions for many Indigenous individuals around the world. A background in Engineering, and 8 years experience in the federal government with First Nations organizations and the Canadian International Development Agency has provided Dev with knowledge and experience to approach development issues. He firmly believes the future of indigenous development involves sustainable and autonomous solutions with a strong focus on maintaining traditional knowledge and language. Having travelled extensively around the world, Dev has seen firsthand the similarities in Indigenous cultures globally. In his view globalization poses a threat to Indigenous culture and the time to act is now to maintain traditions and implementing the sustainable practices inherent in these holistic traditional worldviews as we move into the future as one world connected in more ways than at any other point in our history. In addition to development Dev teaches yoga and meditation and enjoys music and travelling in his spare time. He looks forward to applying the knowledge of the Masters in Development Practice with his existing extensive skills and experience for working in community economic development and project management.
