THFM Faculty nominated for Evies!

The University of Winnipeg Theatre and Film Department is proud to acknowledge current and former faculty and students nominated for Evies at the 2019 Winnipeg Theatre Awards, taking place Monday, November 4th.

Honouring legendary Winnipeg actress Evelyne Anderson, the "Evies" is the name given to the Winnipeg Theatre Awards which celebrate, recognize, and acknowledge excellence in the theatre arts in our community, presenting annual awards that reflect the diversity and depth of talent among Winnipeg’s theatre artists in production and performance.    

Nominees affiliated with the Theatre and Film Department include: 

  • Christopher Brauer (Department Chair) – nominated for Outstanding Director for his production of John at RMTC – which is also nominated for Outstanding Production, Outstanding Design, and two nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress.
  • Andrea del Campo (graduate) – nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress for Cinderella.
  • Kayla Gordon (who taught Musical Theatre for a long time) is receiving an honourary Theatre Educator Award.
  • Scott Henderson (who teaches Lighting Design) – nominated for Outstanding Design for The Cottage AND John AND Strike! The Musical.
  • Kristian Jordan (graduate) – nominated for Outstanding New Work for his co-writing of Red Earth.
  • Arne MacPherson (who has both taught and directed in the department) – nominated for Outstanding Director for The Threepenny Opera.
  • Brenda Gorlick (who teaches Dance) – nominated for Outstanding Choreography for Reefer Madness.
  • Jacquie Loewen (who is a graduate and has taught Stage Combat) – nominated for Outstanding Fight Direction for BOTH Reefer Madness AND Vietgone.
  • Stephanie Sy (graduate) – nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress for
  • Melinda Tallin (Office Manager / Student Advisor) is receiving an honourary Behind the Scenes Award.
  • Cory Wojcik (graduate) – nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor for A Doll’s House.
