Available Programs

Anthropology
Study the evolution of humankind by examining how humans have developed and adapted, both culturally and physically, to the world around them.

Applied Computer Science
Focuses on the theory and application of computing in business and scientific environments. Develop skills in core areas such as programming, database management, and software engineering, among others.

Bioanthropology
Combining aspects of anthropology with biological and physical sciences, this program teaches students to examine human biological systems of the past and present.

Biochemistry
Study the chemistry of life. Investigate living systems by combining the knowledge and methodologies of biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, and microbiology with those of the physical sciences.

Biology

Environmental Studies & Sciences
Combine many different perspectives to understand the changes in our environment, while acknowledging human impacts and providing a framework to develop solutions for environmental programs.

Mathematics / Statistics

  • Prerequisites: PreCalculus Mathematics 40S. Students who are lacking the prerequisite Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S should enroll in MATH-0041 AND MATH-0042, Mathematics Access I and II, which together serve as a prerequisite replacement for Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S.

Neuroscience
How do the brain and nervous system control behaviour? This program provides an understanding of the integrated relationship between biology and psychology.

Physics
The study of nature at its most fundamental level offers the opportunity to explore phenomena at all levels — from the world of the atom to the reaches of the universe.

  • Prerequisites: Must have Physics 40S and Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S. However, interested and motivated students without these prerequisites are also encouraged to contact the department. Introductory Physics (PHYS-1301) requires only Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S or Applied Mathematics 40S. Courses in Astronomy, Cosmology, and Scientific Computing do not require the above prerequisites.

Pre-Dentistry
Dentists treat the diseases and conditions that affect the mouth, jaws, teeth, and supporting tissues. In the Pre-Dentistry program at The University of Winnipeg, you will complete two years of study (60 credit hours) to fulfil the entrance requirements for dentistry at the University of Manitoba or other universities across Canada.

Pre-Medicine
If you have the passion and determination to become a medical doctor, you can complete your first three years (90 credit hours) of pre-professional studies at The University of Winnipeg. Some specific courses are required; see Pre-Medicine for details. Upon completion, you’ll graduate with a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree and may apply to the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba or at another Canadian institution.

Pre-Optometry
Optometrists treat conditions of the human eye and visual system. After three years of study at The University of Winnipeg, you’ll be eligible to apply to Optometry at the University of Waterloo. As a student in Pre-Optometry here, you’ll complete a Bachelor of Science, including specific courses, in order to meet the entrance requirements in Optometry at the University of Waterloo.
