This field placement, primarily based in Winnipeg at the University of Winnipeg's Richardson College for the Environment and Science, focused on issues of northern development. Some of Naomi Happychuk's activities included organizing a roundtable on Northern Development, working on projects relating to the effects of climate change in Canada's north, and doing independent research and writing on best practices of Northern Development. She travelled to Churchill, Manitoba and Rankin Inlet, 'Nunavut to meet with local professionals in the field of development. The placement provided a better understanding of the complexities of development and Indigenous relations in Northern Canada.
