The India Centre for Academic, Business and Community Excellence is a partnership between The University of Winnipeg (UWinnipeg) and the India Association of Manitoba (IAM). We combined our strengths so that we could collaborate on a number of projects to improve understanding between cultural communities, particularly those of the Indo-Canadian, Canadian, and Indian origin. The India Centre works to raise awareness among the peoples of Canada and India about the common outlooks and values that promote liberal democratic and culturally diverse societies.

It's been a great year for The India Centre! Recent activities include:

  • the creation of an endowment fund to support scholarships and bursaries for students to take part in international exchanges to/from India;

  • a series of public forum and concert events which further our aim to build cross-cultural bridges;

  • co-hosting with the UW Faculty of Business & Economics a cohort of 44 Indian students and 1 faculty member from The Institute for Integrated Learning Management (IILM) for a 4 week Global Business Management certificate program.

We will also be hosting our 3rd Annual India Centre Awards on November 10th, 2017 at CanadInns, Polo Park. This year’s honouree is AIM for SEVA, a not-for-profit organization committed to ensuring that all children in India have access to education. Dr. Terry Papneja, president of the AIM for SEVA board of directors, will be the keynote speaker. Visit the Awards Dinner page for more information and to purchase tickets.
