Certificate in Justice, Law and Rights
A new certificate will be available for Criminal Justice students starting in 26-27. The joint Criminal Justice Human Rights certificate will focus on 30 credit hours of courses. The details are as follows.
Human Rights (15 credit hours)
Required:
HR-2100 (3) International Human Rights Law in Context
HR-2200 / HIST-2512 (3) History of Human Rights in Canada
HR-3210 (3) Human Rights Institutions
HR/CJ-3471 (3) Human Rights and the Criminal Justice System
Electives:
Three additional credit hours of a Human Rights elective (any other Human Rights course at the 2000 or 3000 level).
Criminal Justice (15 credit hours)
Required:
CJ-1002 (3) Introduction to Criminal Justice
CJ-2130 (3) Criminal Law
CJ-3130 (3) Criminal Procedure
Electives (choose 2 of the following):
CJ-2120 Policing in Canada
CJ-2203 Institutional Corrections
CJ-2204 Community Corrections
CJ-4130 Advanced Criminal Law
IS-1017 Introduction to Indigenous Studies: Politics and Governance
If you are a student and you take these classes, you can achieve this certificate.
This is a stand-alone certificate, which means you can achieve this certificate without completing a degree (if you are headed to law school after 60 credit hours, for example)…
