Research Interests:

My research bridges aquatic ecology and quantitative ecology, focusing on how environmental changes, from local disturbances to global pressures, affect freshwater organisms and ecosystem processes. I work collaboratively with provincial and federal government research agencies, as well as private and non-profit organizations, to address applied environmental challenges. My research combines field studies, large-scale datasets, quantitative modeling, and geographic information systems to understand and predict the cumulative effects of human activities such as agricultural expansion, urbanization, industrial development, invasive species and climate change.

By developing and applying ecological indicators, modeling multiple stressor effects, and identifying spatial priorities for conservation, my work aims to provide actionable, data-driven insights for the sustainable management, restoration, and protection of freshwater systems. My research spans multiple scales, from local lakes and rivers to national and continental studies and considers a wide range of aquatic life from planktonic communities to fish.

I welcome inquiries from prospective undergraduate and graduate students interested in exploring research at the intersection of aquatic ecology, quantitative analysis, and conservation science.
