Beading Metis Resurgence Artists in Residence
March 6 - 20, 2026
Gallery 1C03 is pleased to announce its first-ever artist in residence program, presented in conjunction with our exhibition Beading Métis Resurgence. Between March 6 and 20, we welcome exhibiting artists Jennine Krauchi, David Heinrichs, Vi Houssin, Claire Johnston and Brianna Oversby to work on their beading at Gallery 1C03. All are invited to say hello and visit with the artists while they are in the gallery.
Indigenous beadwork is often made alone, as it is a contemplative, intricate and delicate process, but many times it is also done communally with others. In this spirit of community-building, the artists of Beading Métis Resurgence will step into the gallery, settle in at the kitchen table, and spend time on their ongoing beading projects.
This residency is made possible thanks to funding from the University of Winnipeg Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic.
