Anishinaabe Agriculture Institute

During her field placement with the Anishinaabe Agriculture Institute (AAI), Andrea Dsouza worked with community members from the East African, Middle Eastern, Amish and Indigenous communities in Northern Minnesota to build a collaborative agriculture enterprise based on good land stewardship and cultural survival through access to food. The project touched on: youth training, regional economic development, land back, cross-cultural collaboration and the restoration of traditional varieties of our food.

“As a non-Indigenous newcomer myself, what drew me to working on this project and with AAI is the integrated and intersectional nature of their work, and I wasn’t disappointed! Spending time at White Earth was life-changing, and I have grown both personally and professionally from engaging in this unique international field placement.”
