Campus Campaign Celebration

Dr. Annette Trimbee On March 12, 2015, Dr. Annette Trimbee, President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Winnipeg and Mr. Brian Lawrence Daly, President and CEO of The University of Winnipeg Foundation welcomed UWinnipeg’s campus community to the first-ever Campus Campaign Celebration.








Held in Convocation Hall, the afternoon reception was well attended by faculty, staff, retirees, and other close friends of the University.

Guests enjoyed delicious refreshments, great company, and beautiful music, thanks to accomplished pianist and Academic Advisor, Ms Tanis Kolisnyk. Additionally, an exciting Campaign announcement was made: more than 325 donors participated in the 2014 Campus Campaign, giving over $732,000! 

The event was a special opportunity to recognize and celebrate the culture of giving that exists on UWinnipeg’s campus. To thank our campus community for their generosity, all faculty and staff who gave in 2014 or 2015 were entered to win one of two pairs of prime tickets to a Winnipeg Jets game. Guests who donated at the event were also eligible to win. 

Altogether, $6,750 was raised in support of student scholarships and bursaries, research and academic enhancements, and other areas of need on campus! The winners of the tickets were Ms Veralyn Warkentin, Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health and Dr. Louesa Polyzoi, Faculty of Education. 

Among the gifts received was an anonymous $1,000 donation to the Carol Shields Writer-in-Residence Program. Inspired by their shared passion for the Program, draw winner Veralyn and a fellow UWinnipeg staff member saw an opportunity: Veralyn gave the pair of tickets to her colleague who in turn made a gift in support of the residency.
