Immigration Partnership Winnipeg

Gloria Makafui Dovoh spent her summer with the Immigration Partnership Winnipeg/ Social Planning Council of Winnipeg. She writes:

My placement was nothing short of exciting and I loved what I was doing so I did not get tired of working. I was able to learn about places, people and how the settlement sector operates, in a nutshell. Even though there is still more to be learned, I believe the field placement was a step in the right direction. Some of my duties were:

  • Explore funding opportunities for the Ethnocultural Council of Manitoba (ECCM) and wrote four grant applications.
  • Assist in organizing events over the summer
  • Assist in organizing, attending, and taking minutes at ECCM meetings, community meetings, consultations and Immigration Partnership Winnipeg and Social Planning Council of Winnipeg meetings
  • Participate in other tasks as needed, such as: update the IPW anti-racism campaign social media, conduct research and administrative work.
