End Homeless Winnipeg (EHW)

Babatunde Alabi was hosted for his domestic placement by the Evaluation & Shared Measurement unit of End Homelessness Winnipeg (EHW). EHW is an Indigenous organization that aims to create lasting solutions that prevent and end homelessness by moving from costly emergency responses, such as shelters and crisis response, to long-term, sustainable solutions like prevention, housing and community services.

During this placement, Babatunde worked on 2018 Winnipeg Street Health Survey project by supporting the analysis of quantitative data on gendered and Indigenous homelessness and producing draft research report. Babatunde also participated in the various research team meetings and project advisory committee meetings where project strategies were formulated.

“This placement, which I did remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, helped to improve on my existing technical skill such as those related to research and report writing and soft skills such as communication and relationship building. It also helped me to become well-grounded in working in a virtual environment”.
