Amanda Appasamy

Amanda Appasamy An advocate for human rights, social, political and environmental justice, I was born in Mauritius, an island off the east coast of Madagascar. I immigrated to Canada when I was 19 years old. I have had the honour to learn and discover the history and culture of the Indigenous peoples in Manitoba, Quebec and in Mexico. I am proud to say that thanks to the Indigenous values of sharing and respect of the environment, I have learned the great importance of environment, cultural and social protection.

I graduated with a four year Major Degree in Microbiology and a Minor in Spanish from the University of Manitoba. I am fluent in French, Spanish and English. I am deeply thankful and honoured to embark in this program. I look forward to applying my science skills in the implementation of sustainable development in Canada and internationally, whilst advocating and enforcing indigenous values, rights, equality and economic freedom.
