Paul Acorn

Paul Acorn Paul Acorn is passionate about helping and serving people which is demonstrated in his choice of career and life style. His first career was in the culinary arts (18 years). In 1999 he became a Reiki Master Teacher (eastern health methodology). Noteworthy, in 2000 Paul was gifted with an Ojibwe name - Waabishkizi GooKooko'oo, whilst participating in a healing community for sweats; fasts; and other solstice ceremonies, often as the fire keeper. Paul is the father of 4 beautiful Métis children which alters his approach towards life & career.

In 2013 Paul began his scholastic journey to expand his career possibilities which also illuminated societal challenges, especially within Canadian First Nations’ communities adversely affected by colonialism. This discovery prompted a multi-disciplinary academic exploration covering: management, economics, statistics, health, natural sciences, and social sciences. Paul earned a degree BSc in Environmental Science from Royal Roads University in 2017; subsequent, to earning an Environmental Management diploma from the University of Guelph in 2015.

Paul enters into the MDP – Indigenous development graduate program at University of Winnipeg with the aim to learn and combine his unique experiences, skills, education, and passion to help build/sustain healthy & productive communities.
