For our monthly Lunch and Learn lectures, the Global College is pleased to have Dr. Kornelsen, Director of Human Rights Program, who will talk about Teaching Global Citizenship. He is well-known in teaching Introduction to Global Citizenship class among Human Rights and International Development Studies students at the University of Winnipeg. Students interested in learning about democratic citizenship and human rights in a globalizing world always appreciate his devotion to students' well-being and success.

Dr. Kornelsen's main focus on this talk arises from the the intersection of experiential learning, international practicum, and global citizenship. This lecture will examine a pedagogical conundrum at the heart of ‘teaching for world citizenship’. Where does the idea of global citizenship come from? What is the importance of teaching global citizenship? Why are schools and universities are asked to cultivate perspectives and dispositions of citizenship in global contexts? Expanding on the broader context of global citizenship and education, Dr. Kornelsen will guide students to prepare for the opportunities, responsibilities, and challenges of globalization that they face not only within their classroom, but also in the community and internationally.

Embrace the opportunity to broaden your knowledge and expand your critical thinking skills by joining Dr. Kornelsen's discussion about Teaching Global Citizenship on February 26th, from 12:30 PM - 1:20 PM at Global College.
