Student Groups

ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development)

ASCD is an international professional development group for teachers. There are 70 student chapters, including one at UW. As part of the membership fees ($30), they get a year's subscription to Educational Leadership (the most-read teachers' journal), and get daily smart briefs. The UW Chapter has put on pd sessions with talks from ASCD professional members.

Education Student Association (EdSA)

EdSA represents the students of the Faculty of Education and serves their needs by providing social and professional development opportunities, like the CHARGE conference. EdSA strives to make every student's experience in the Faculty successful, positive, and rewarding. They work closely with the Faculty of Education and are recognized by the University of Winnipeg Students' Association (UWSA).

Manitoba Council for Exceptional Children (MCEC)

The Manitoba Council for Exceptional Children (MCEC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of effective practice in educating students with exceptional needs in Manitoba. MCEC is affiliated with the international branch of the Council for Exceptional Children and the national organization, the Canadian Council for Exceptional Children. MCEC is also a Special Area Group affiliated with the Manitoba Teachers' Society.

The University of Winnipeg Student Chapter is one of three student chapters for the Manitoba Council for Exceptional Children. The UW student chapter is dedicated to providing Professional and Personal Development opportunities to future educators, and university students.
