Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC)

During his field placement, Daniel Yeboah engaged in a wide range of activities focused on Indigenous procurement and policy development. He conducted research on potential partners, stakeholders, and investors, and examined the historical context of treaties to inform policy recommendations. He contributed to drafting procurement policies for both the provincial government and the City of Winnipeg, ensuring they reflected best practices and community priorities. He also participated in brainstorming sessions to develop project ideas, drafted proposals for funders, and assisted with organizing events. Additionally, he supported the chamber’s event and project execution and attended meetings with government officials and other stakeholders to gain valuable insight into policy-making processes.

Reflecting on his experience, he shared: “Economic reconciliation isn’t just about employment — it’s about shifting from dependence to self-determination by empowering Indigenous businesses through targeted procurement."
