Grey & Ivy

Brent Wennekes completed his field placement with Grey & Ivy, a social enterprise that supports First Nations in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario through community-led infrastructure development. His work focused on helping advance the planning and coordination of future Knowledge Centres—multi-purpose hubs that enable locally driven housing, training, and economic development. During his placement, Brent contributed to applied research, partnership development, and funding proposals in collaboration with Indigenous leaders, architects, and financial organizations.

“This experience deepened my understanding of how infrastructure can serve as a tool for community vision and self-determination,” Brent shared. “It was an opportunity to listen, learn, and support systems-level work grounded in relationships.”
