Persons Community Solutions (PCS)
Daniel Yeboah, a graduate student, undertook a field placement with Persons Community Solutions (PCS) in Winnipeg on the Community Safety Host program; a project initiated by Zangozi Ode (formerly Fearless R2W) and now run and operated by PCS.
As a development specialist, his roles included reviewing interview sheets, prescreening candidates for the Community Safety Host positions, researching funding opportunities, setting up meetings with funding program officers, updating candidate spreadsheets and writing grant proposals. Daniel's work was both independent and collaborative because he worked on a hybrid basis. He developed work skills such as digital communication, time management, and adaptability which are increasingly valuable in the modern workforce. It also provided him with valuable face-to-face networking opportunities with colleagues, supervisors, and other professionals, helping him build relationships and gain insights that are harder to achieve remotely.
"My field placement has been transformative and strengthened my leadership and problem-solving skills in community development and I am incredibly grateful to the amazing team of professionals at PCS."
